Engraving and calligraphy - personalising gifts
Engraving and calligraphy have been trendily linked for several years now, creating wonderful gifts for special occasions.
Calligraphy
Calligraphy is an art of beautiful writing that has evolved over centuries and has its roots in different cultures around the world. It is a carefully chosen script where the letters are elegantly shaped and balanced, creating an aesthetically pleasing appearance. Calligraphy is a true art that requires skill and precision.

One possible use of calligraphy is manually calligraphic engraving, which allows you to create lasting and personalised messages on a variety of materials and products. Hand engraving involves carving a design into the surface of a product, respecting the laws of calligraphy, giving a unique image.

Engraving and calligraphy - unique, manually, artistic
Calligraphic engraving is a special form of hand engraving based on the application of calligraphic laws, but using an engraving machine. It is a process in which a selected message is freehand engraved into the surface of the product. This process allows the creation of personalised gifts that are unique and have a special meaning.
Calligraphic engraving process
I approach engraving in the same way as calligraphy. First, I create a few drafts from a text template, depending on the size and shape of the object I'm going to engrave. To do it properly, I need horizontal lines to determine the height of the letters and slant lines to adjust the slope of the text. I write a draft of the text I intend to engrave with a marker or glass pencil. I then repeat the strokes with a small engraving machine.
The difference between calligraphy on paper and calligraphic engraving
The calligraphy pen has a flexible and split tip, which produces a wide stroke when pressed down. There is no pressure on the upstroke, as I only lightly touch the paper with the pen. With the right pressure, I get a nice rhythm to the script and a synergy of thin and broad strokes.
The gravity drill rotates but has no flexibility or movement. It is static and, when pressed uniformly, produces a consistent stroke width with respect to its width or size. Therefore, to recreate calligraphy, it is necessary to widen the strokes further in certain areas to create the appearance of calligraphic writing. I can say that I imitate calligraphy in this sequence:
- Creating a draft on paper.
- Drawing the lines.
- Transcribing the text in pencil.
- First engraving.
- Spread the moves.
- Cleaning the engraving.
- Coating the engraving with paint.
- Final cleaning.
Heartfelt gifts for special occasions
Hand engraving of calligraphic messages allows personalising different products to suit different occasions. For example, an engraved personalised message retains the value of gifts given for occasions such as weddings, anniversaries or other anniversaries we celebrate. In addition engraving can also be carried out on perfume, a bottle of wine, Cognac or on the jars. This transforms ordinary objects into precious and timeless exhibits that remind us of the good times.
Calligraphy engraving on various materials or products
Calligraphic engraving is possible on a wide range of materials and products with suitably large surfaces. These include wines, perfumes, whiskies or cognac bottles, decanters, knives and Cake scoops or thermos bottles.
When selecting products for engraving, it is important that they have a smooth surface free of indentations and embossing. Calligraphic engraving is beautiful on dark bottles as it stands out very well. Engraving on bottles that have a ground surface or are under pressure is somewhat limited or even inappropriate.

Calligraphic engraving in gold or silver
Engraving has its own charm and beauty, but gold or silver plating can make it stand out even more. To accentuate the engraved calligraphy, I use a gold or silver coating, which gives the engraving a very elegant look and adds a touch of sophistication. Emphasising engraving with gold or silver colour makes your gift look even more exclusive.

I can also add a calligraphic engraving to the bottle beautiful gift packaging in different colours to personalise a beautiful gift. The packaging is carefully designed and crafted and is suitable for giving engraved wines and other products. This will make your gifts even more impressive and unique.

Personalisation of the bottle
When engraving the bottle, I take care of individual approach and customisation of engraving by product. I take into account the shape and colour of the labels on the bottles. I can also remove the label for more text.

Live calligraphy and engraving at your event
Live calligraphic engraving creates an unforgettable shopping experience and a special event experience. It takes your service to a new level. It's perfect for wine tastings, launching a new product or brand and it's inspiring at weddings. You'll attract even more customers by sending a personalised message with the product they buy.

The most common word from clients and guests, as they watch the words transform into beautiful calligraphy before their eyes, is "wow". For engraving I use a quiet desktop appliance, which is no louder than an electric toothbrush, so it doesn't make an unpleasant noise.
